Rabbit in the Moon

It's that time again...
A new round of The Arcade opens in Second Life on Monday 1st June and here is a sneak preview of the goodies on offer by *Tentacio* in another collaboration done with Antielle!
I love this "Rabbit in the Moon" set - it's soooo cute! There are 3 rares available - 2 kimono style dresses and the rabbit Okobo sandals (which come with colour change HUD). The texturing of the dresses is divine and I adore the bunnies. The shoes are unrigged so you can make them fit the flat feet of your choice.
The commons include some cute mini-dresses in 5 different colours, matching okobo sandals, 3 bags and some yummy looking goodies!

You still have until 5th June to head to the Fantasy Gacha Carnival too, where you'll find a couple of the prop/decor pieces I've used today.

I'm still wearing the Lelutka mesh head. I'm getting used to it - a bit. I still do miss my own face shape I have to admit, but the quality and smoothness you get with the mesh heads is completely unrivalled by what the standard avatar can offer. Anyone who wishes to tell me "I told you so" feel free to do so now :P

An Elven Tale

It's the last days of the second anniversary round of We Love Roleplay!

Enfant Terrible has created one of the most beautiful fantasy outfits I've seen in SL, perfect for elven characters like I was going for today. There are 2 colour versions available - dark and gold. There is also a matching staff which is entirely a work of art on its own. The staff includes 2 versions, with the scripted one coming to life with firefly lighting.
Enfant Terrible is offering a gift of this beautiful dragonfly hairpiece for this very special round of WLRP, which I've also used a prop pieces for my pic.

Tableau Vivant has 2 brand new hairstyles for the May round of the event, both inspired by Game of Thrones character Cersei Lannister. These are available in the standard colour packs.

Zibska has created a couple of new jewellery sets for WLRP this time around. The one I'm wearing today is called
and consists of a necklace, cuffs and earrings. All are colour-changeable and resizeable via a HUD.

The cute little character keeping me company today is the new 'Pet Cerb' by Genesis Lab. This little feller comes in 5 different fur colour versions, all of which include a HUD to switch him between 4 different poses and to change his jacket.

All items discounted by 25-50% whilst the event continues!!

Emerging From the Shadows

The annual Second Life World Goth Fair 2015 opened its gates to all the darklings out there at the weekend. A beautifully decorated sim (once again thanks to Lokii Violet for her amazing work on that!) presents some brand new designs from some of the darkest and most gothic creators in SL.
Fallen Gods Inc & Faida have collaborated on this beautiful gown called Faida. This is a special 'Silver' edition of the dress and there are 3 styles included. It's available in 4 different colours and I've (typically) gone for the black version. The version I'm wearing has a mesh/lace overskirt which has some of the prettiest detailing I've seen.
The Fair actually opened a few days ago (yes I'm terribly late with this!) but for those of you who have already taken a look around, I have news for you! Many of the designers are introducing more new items to their booths for World Goth Day this Friday so it's worth another look around for sure!

We're half way through the current round of The Secret Affair, so if you were waiting for lag to die down it's safe to head over there now. Entwined has released a pretty new long hair called called Kiara and in the black I thought was perfect for today's gothic styling!
Alegria has also created some fabulous jewellery. The collar and cuffs I'm wearing are detailed in dragon scales making it very unique looking. It comes in several different colour so easy to match to various outfits/looks.

You may notice I'm wearing my Lelutka mesh head again and it really is because I'm in love with the fantasy skin applier line by Glam Affair at We Love Roleplay, this time trying out the 'Silver' version of Megan. I was also pleased to discover many make up appliers for the Lelutka heads at the current Cosmetics Fair. The eye make up I'm wearing is just one of three on offer from Zibska. Each pack contains appliers for Lelutka & TMP, as well as tattoo layers for standard avatars. There are many colours in each pack so will keep you sorted no matter whether you are going goth or something a lot brighter!
Zibska also has this pretty necklace available at the current On9 event. It comes with earrings too and includes a HUD to be able to change the colours of the beads and chains.

Here comes the shameless promotion section - I will be DJing tomorrow (22/05) for World Goth Day among some other awesome DJs at the Club Gothika mobile unit which is situated at the Fair. There will be hours upon hours of fabulous music ranging from Goth to Industrial to EBM and to Synthpop. If you enjoy some synthpop & darkwave or if you just fancy an in-world meetup, I'll be streaming live 2-4pm SLT! The great thing is you can have fun and cam shop at the same time, how much better does it get?

Identity - Mesh in Second Life, Are we losing our identities?

Mesh heads in Second Life are becoming increasingly popular and there are more and more creators making them now. Many people that know me will know that I have been quite 'anti' mesh head for some time. It's not that I couldn't see the advantages (I'm in love with mesh body and couldn't begin to contemplate going back!) but I've always disliked that mesh heads made so many avatars appear the same no matter what skin applier, make-up, hair etc was used. When browsing through pictures on Flickr I've disliked that it's become difficult to recognise people's work and recognise avatars from group pics (as you would with people in real photo's) and it has dulled things somewhat for me. The increase in the number of mesh head creators is no bad thing at all, I like the fact that there are many more options becoming available. However, I still find it a little sad that people have to lose their unique identities and custom shapes. But times are changing and I do accept this.

I wasn't a fan of many of the first mesh heads that appeared on the scene as I simply didn't like the look of them and thought some were outright odd looking. I really couldn't have imagined ever getting one until some miracle in technical advancements allowed for better customisation.
Whilst the increase in the number of heads now available is good, what I find a little annoying is that it means having to sacrifice certain things that you still may like. For example, your favourite skin maker doesn't make appliers for one make of head so you have to make a choice between the head or the skin you prefer.

Now, whilst I accept some of you at this point are probably thinking "what about the COCO doll" mesh avatar that I use so much, I do think of this in a different way and the mesh heads I'm referring to are for normal/human avatars. I think of the doll differently because dolls do look the same. If I'm not making a lot of sense on this here, apologies but really is my musings and opinions lol.

So, what has changed for me?

In several of my recent posts you will notice I have been used the Genesis Lab Lilith 2.0 mesh head. This caught my eye on Flickr when the very first picture of it was released - it was so pretty!
I liked it because it had a 'me' feel about it - to me the look of the face wasn't too dissimilar from the shape I already used and it didn't seem like it would take much getting used to. Also, I adore the lips on it. Then after taking some pictures with it I realised how much easier it was to play with various different windlights without annoying shadows popping up making the skin look ugly. Another major benefit from a photography point of view is the smoothness of the face and this means editing isn't needed to get a really nice finish.
Now, I really liked this head and I've been happy to wear it frequently but my major issue has been a lack of appliers for it.
*inserts appeal to skin creators here*
Whilst the standard skin is nice and Genesis has also created additional make up options, I do miss my pale skin tone options and variety of make up.

The big big thing that has now really attracted me to the Lelutka Undivided head is Glam Affairs new fantasy skin line available at We Love Roleplay. I've been missing my Glam Affair Elvi Fairy skin for some time as I haven't had a pale grey applier for mesh body to go with it and I have to admit I really was a little gutted when I saw the new fantasy line was Lelutka appliers only. However, the lure of the pretty drow skins became too much for me and I caved in, purchasing the 'Stella' head. I am glad I held off and didn't jump in straight away, as this is by far my fave from the 6 heads currently on offer by Lelutka.
The Glam Affair fantasy line skins are available in 3 tones and 3 different variations - Stella, Karin and Megan. Megan is my favourite because to me it very much changes the way the face looks from it's standard appearance (yes, I'm still seeking some level of difference even if uniqueness is impossible!).... and gosh those eyebrows are to die for!
The fantasy skin appliers can be found at WLRP for a few more days and if you hurry and grab them at the event, you'll save 40% off the standard price. Even better, you can also pick up matching Maitreya appliers as a free gift from the Glam Affair stall for the duration of the event - thank you very much for that Aida!

So, what do I think of the Lelutka Stella head now I have it? It is still taking a little getting used to. I do love the ability to be able to open/close eyes and open/close mouth. The blinking animation is nice, as is the option to stop it. I also like the fact that there are plenty of appliers - both skin and makeup - now being released for it. I'm wearing one of the new Zibska shadows from the most recent round of Uber and I like that there is the option to vary how intense you want the eye shadow to be with this head. I'm using at about 50%, but this can be increased for the full neon intensity of the makeup or made even more subtle - that choice is yours! One thing I'm not loving about the Lelutka head is the lashes, but I guess that's a personal preference.
Will I use it all the time? Probably not, as I still don't like the idea of seeing the same face all the time when I browse through Flickr but I do definitely see the plus points and advantages to it too. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up eating my words and using more than I thought. I'm certainly happy to have the pale grey and drow skin options back again!

(edit. Caity Tobias has just done a similar post with her mesh head thoughts which you can read here)

Now enough of all that rambling from me, as there is something very important to mention today too that will be of interest for many sl fashion addicts. The Join Hands for NEPAL fundraiser is currently taking place with some fabulous designers taking part and donating the proceeds from their items to this cause.
no. 7 is donating 100% of the proceeds from this fabulously colourful feather shawl. For all the colour lovers, couture addicts and eccentrics out there - this is one for you!

From the Depths We Shall Rise

Azoury really does make some of the most fabulous shoes in Second Life and their latest event release for The Secret Affair is no exception to this! The aptly named 'Divine' wedge is made for SLink, Maitreya, Belleza, Eve & TMP feet and the stunning sans-heel design comes in red, black and white.
Also featuring at this round of TSA is !gO! who has created the 'moth' dress in 5 different colours and Keystone with their beautiful 'Depth' jewellery sets. Be sure to head over to The Secret Affair before it ends on May 29th!
If you love fantasy events, don't forget the anniversary round of We Love Roleplay too. Many of the sl fantasy creators have gifts and freebies out to celebrate and Zibska has created this unisex, resizeable necklace and cuffs set which comes complete with colour change HUD! WLRP is also holding a photo contest to celebrate the anniversary and you can find the details of it here.

The Realm of Nightmares

A new round of The Secret Affair has begun and from the depths some startlingly dark and beautiful creations are rising!
The official theme this round is "from the depths we shall rise" and some of the best creators in Second Life have been hard at work on their latest releases.
FDD Stories bring you the 'Deidre' gacha, which includes 8 full length skirts (each a different colour) as commons, top as rare, fur collar as rare and corset ultra rare. The textures on the skirt are really beautiful and you can see ho much work went into these - they are fabulous for commons! The rares and ultra all have texture change HUD included to match the skirts. All of the items are fitted mesh.
The Plastik introduces the 'Gloria' Halo, which comes in a huge number of different colour variations! There are 6 different styles for each and I'm wearing the 'Raziel' design, which includes lots of very cool looking floating studs. Each style is also modifiable so you can adjust to make it perfect for the look you want.

If you are in love with gothic and dark scenery and sets, the Fantasy Gacha Carnival is definitely a place you'll be wanting to shop this month. Both Ravenghost and 22769 ~ [bauwerk] have some amazing pieces on offer in their gacha machines and once again I'm marvelling at how awesome the commons are! Ravenghost has done a really outstanding job on his rares and I'm in love with this gothic ruin. There is so much detail included.

Hope you all like the pic and lotd - have fun shopping for the weekend ;)

Catch of The Day

Second Life fantasy lovers will be in heaven this week, with the opening of the Fantasy Gacha Carnival a couple of days ago and the new round of The Secret Affair beginning tomorrow at noon!
If things seem a little fishy with little dolly being the 'catch of the day', that's down to the new "Fish Shop Daughters" set by {anc} at the Fantasy Gacha Carnival and the "Fisherman's Place" set by [ zerkalo ] at The Secret Affair. Our fishermen have not only caught these stunningly detailed wearable fish by {anc} but also dolly who is desperately clutching her precious gold pendant by lassitude & ennui! I'm sure they are in for a surprise ;)
Both the exquisite Ultra Rare Antique Aquarium and the realistic fisherman's place set include animations as well, so perfect for role play scenes or just somewhere to hang out!

We Love Roleplay Second Anniversary!! - To the souls that crouch in fear

It's the Second anniversary of We Love Roleplay, making it one of the longest standing shopping events in Second Life and creators have really gone all out for this round with some awesome new fantasy pieces. It's a bigger round than usual too, with more stores taking part and more items being included! In addition, as a token of thanks at the May round of the event, many of the designers have put out freebies as gifts.

[The Forge] is well known for their fabulous armour and they do not disappoint with the 'Arcana' set, which includes pauldrons and sections for both upper and lower arms. There are 5 different colour versions available at 250L each for the duration of the event.
Also new from [The Forge] is this awesome plaid vest, which could easily be incorporated into more urban/mainstream looks as well as roleplay styles. This is available in 3 different colours - black, brown and gold - at 175L each and there are also matching bracers available for purchase (not shown).

Pixicat is back with a bang for this round of WLRP with the 'Foo Armor' set. Tops (not shown)and bottoms are sold separately and come in 5 different metal variations. Each includes a colour HUD for the fabric. The bottoms have a discount of 50% whilst at the event so is best to hurry and grab now! I love the styling of the armor bottom, with the detail of the ropes and the beast (is anyone else getting flashbacks to the door knockers in Labyrinth?)

The mask I have in my hand is the gift presented by Aisling for the event and comes in 4 different metal colours with matching tiara.

Fantasy Faire 2015 - A Final Fairwell

Today is officially the last day of the Fantasy Faire 2015 and the Fairelands will soon be reclaimed by the mists. However, mystical as these things are, we don't know for sure when the lands will disappear for good so there may still be time for you to view the masterpiece worlds and purchase pretties to support Relay For Life before LL swallow them up.
As I write this post, the total amount of Linden Dollars raised during the event stands just short of 7.5 million. This is HUGE and it's wonderful to see as it can really help to make so much difference.

Azul has created a gorgeous Japanese-influenced gown called 'K'aalogii' and you'll find it in the second of their RFL vendors (my previous FF post contained their first RFL creation!). This full length mesh gown comes with mesh sleeves and addon floating flexi pieces, contrasting Obi belt, collar & headpiece for a really beautiful finish.

The picture was taken at YoZakura and this sim really is a delight.

Odyssey sim designer and Fallen Gods creator Alia Baroque has brought these enchanting 'Oceania' skins to the fair, suitable for both 2-legged and mer-peeps alike with appliers for Omega and SLink. So I thought I'd settle down by the beautiful ruined fountain (which can be found in Atelier Visconti's RFL vendor) to pose for a pic.

Eloquence

So, anyone that is familiar with the Azoury brand knows to expect absolutely stunning and eccentric artistically styled shoes from them. If you don't know the brand, you'll get what I mean with this newest release at the new round of The Chapter Four, which opens tomorrow (May 4th).
Available in four versions - metal, white, black & white, black & red - this stunning platform shoe contains the most fabulous details. It's made to fit SLink high, Belleza, Maitreya, TMP & Eve mesh body/feet.
I'm wearing the SLink version with COCO's new Fashiondoll body, which has feet sized to be compatible with SLink shoes.

The Time & Place

hello peeps...
So I've gone and bought a mesh head at last - I found one I couldn't resist! New at the Dark Style Fair by Genesis, Lilith includes 4 different skin tones. Standard skin textures included for body and appliers for SLink hands/feet, Maitreya Lara & Phat Azz. Genesis has also released a variety of make up appliers for Lilith at the event too. Eyes are included and colour can be changed with the HUD.

A new round of We Love Roleplay is nearly here and it is an extra special one - The third anniversary of the event!! That means extra goodies and extra discounts, so really what is not to love?! In addition to the standard 25-50% discounts available from each designer, many also have cheapies or additional discounted items to celebrate the anniversary.
Empyrean Forge has created this beautifully detailed timepiece necklace in 4 different finishes.
The decor behind me is by Nomad, who have created two antique style world map pieces and a wonderfully animated planetarium for the wall.

Also, be sure to check out the full details of the WLRP Photo Contest too as there are so many awesome prizes to be won by 3 lucky winners!
